Last night I took my daughter on a "Joie/Daddy" date. (This means we left Sarah home for some peace and quiet.) I'd already been thinking about doing this when I picked Joie up from daycare. She was in a good mood, but quiet as I put her in my car. So, I asked her, "do you want to do anything special tonight?"
She immediately replied, "I wanna eat at restaurant. Umm... Chick-fil-a!" Which was exactly what I already had in mind.
So, while we're eating our dinner at Chick-fil-a, I try to do the good, fatherly thing and hold a deep conversation with my two-and-a-half year old daughter. She didn't have much to say about school today, so I told her about my eye-doctor appointment. She said they were going to fix my eyes.
At this point, Joie starts picking up her chicken nugget, taking a bite, and saying in a very excited voice "dee-licious!" (Followed by a silly, "I know I'm funny" grin.) I decided to play along!
So, just for fun, I asked her, "Who makes the best chicken?"
Immediately, yet casually, she replied, "Jesus."
"Well, that's true;" I said, "but who cooks the best chicken?"
Holding her arm out and pointing to the service counter, she answered, "They do."
As they say, "out of the mouth of babes!" She definitely is a wise little cracker
