Just a Thought
People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.

Church, Entertainment / Recreation, Family Life Fall from GraceToday the Young Families life group sponsored a Memorial Day picnic for our entire church at a local park (about 5 minutes from us). We had grilled food, dizzy-bat games, water balloon fights, and all the other requirements of a great church picnic. The best part was the "bounce house" that we rented for the kids. This was a deluxe model with a slide attached that you could get to from inside the bouncing portion.

Graphic Design, Odd & Unexpected, Web Development Someone Watching? The SonQuest Christian youth event is now 3 months away. This week, I received new information from the SonQuest organizing committee. So, I've been working on a website update and (more ambitious) a new site design that supports this year's theme -- "The Final Frontier - 2007: A Faith Odessy."

Odd & Unexpected, Parenting Last night I took my daughter on a "Joie/Daddy" date. (This means we left Sarah home for some peace and quiet.) I'd already been thinking about doing this when I picked Joie up from daycare. She was in a good mood, but quiet as I put her in my car. So, I asked her, "do you want to do anything special tonight?"
She immediately replied, "I wanna eat at restaurant. Umm... Chick-fil-a!" Which was exactly what I already had in mind.

Bible Study I got the chance to visit a different Meridian Woods Young Families LIFE Group this Friday. (Ours was unable to meet.) So, instead of studying a chapter of Luke, we spend an hour or so discussing the meaning and practical application of a chapter from Ephesians. It just happened to be Chapter 5 which focuses on submission -- a somewhat controversial topic in today’s culture.

Entertainment / Recreation Survivor Figi logoCBS is broadcasting the “Survivor: Fiji” season finale tonight in the typical 3 hour mega-block program. I’ve been following the series as I have time. Actually, I haven’t seen the last 2 episodes, so I have a bit of catching up to do this evening.
First observation: Who planned the Survivor finale for Mother’s Day? This sure doesn’t strike me as the way most mothers want to spend the evening. Then again, maybe the demographic is strongly female? Who knows?!?

Graphic Design, Web Development Today I found a great, free web design resource. Browsershots.org is an online service that takes any web address (URL) that you enter and attempts to create screenshots in multiple browsers and multiple platforms. This is extremely helpful to me as a way to test a graphic design/website layout in Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows -- a browser that is notorious for Cascading Style Sheet layout bugs.

Academic Studies The inter-semester break is over (already!?). Today the website for my online course "Introduction to Systematic Design of Instruction" became available. After reading the syllabus and course calendar, I have a pretty good idea what I’m in for.

Family Life Last weekend Tiffany attended her second Prom. It is held at a local high school and sponsored by the school's Renaissance Club. There were about 20 Special Ed kids and 20 "normal" kids who helped keep the party going. Apparently Tiff spent the two hours there dancing the entire time! The Limbo, YMCA, Train and a large variety of other songs kept them going. Tiffany is getting very tall, and her high heels only add to the look!

Family Life, Travel Best: Having a child very excited about experiencing a new adventure. Worst: Watching the sun start to set as the drive to the campsite takes longer than expected.
